It's getting to that time of the year, when we start layering clothes and scarves, spend longer mornings in bed and contemplate if we will survive this ice age. But seriously, WINTER has really stepped up their game (i.e. I'm freezing my butt off) and my skin has suffered in the process.
The air is dryer, our skin feels tighter, you can even start seeing cracks! Does anyone else get that static feeling in the hair? And when you run your dry hands through them it just feels even dryer? You can obviously tell I love winter.
Here are a few of my go-to winter skin saviours which have quite literally saved my skin.
Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil
A few drops of this baby in your moisturiser/foundation and you're just left with the most supple skin. It’s a great way to add that much needed glow back into the skin and can prevent your foundation from becoming cakey. This is because it's creating that barrier that prevents the air from sucking up all your water in the skin. Usually I add 1-2 drops in with my moisturiser, but this year I've been warming 3 drops in the palm of my hand and patting it OVER my moisturiser. Great stuff!
Josie Maran Intensive Hydration Milk
A blend of water and oil, this is such a great product if you don't want that heavy feeling of oil on your skin (not that Josie feels heavy or anything). I love this during the day because it really plumps out any fine lines with its microdroplets of argan oil. It sits beautifully under makeup and helps your base to glide on better. A must for dewy skin lovers.
Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask
I have talked about this baby before and still to this day can rave about its awesomeness. The smell, the texture, the look and feel. This is hands down my lazy night routine. I'm talking about a massive night out and the last thing you want to do is a 7-step skincare routine. The mango butter and apricot oil are the key ingredients in this one and they are a perfect combination for long-lasting hydration.
Sheet Masks
Who doesn't love a good 'ol sheet mask? If you can handle the slight chill of placing a fresh sheet mask on in the middle of winter then you need to incorporate these into your routine. They're a great way of giving your skin a burst of hydration or nutrients before layering on your moisturiser. My favourites are Mecca Cosmetica's Lit from Within Mask, Leaders in Solution and Mizon's Bio Hyaluronic Acid Ampoule Mask.
Sorbolene Cream
This is a weird one I know but hear me out. My body gets super crackly and scaly even in Summer. I am an extremely dry skin type that suffers from eczema. Nobody likes that! Sorbolene has helped me for years! If I take a break from moisturising my entire body with this stuff I will start to break out in rashes. I've even tested this! It's seriously a godsend for scaliness or super dehydrated body skin. Plus its like $4 for a litre bottle. Can't get any better than that!
Hope you guys found this somewhat helpful. I seriously go back to these products every time winter hits. Give them a go and tell me what you think!
