I've been on the hunt for smudge-proof mascaras ever since I first put on makeup. It is something I've struggled with for years and I've made it a mission to find the best ones on the market. I, like many with similar hooded eye shapes, tend to have skin that rubs the lashes when we smile, laugh, express with our eyes etc. The natural oils that are near our lashes tend to dissolve the mascara, leaving us with racoon eyes.
Most people can deal with the 3 o'clock panda eye. Just rub underneath the eyes and you're clean right? Some people, like me, are now tired of having to check our makeup every hour. Waterproof is not always the answer because, let's face it, it's so hard to take off at night.
Now that I've hunted for my holy grail mascaras, I can't even remember the times I've had to fix up my makeup due to smudging. Below is my top 5 favourite mascaras.
If you guys have any suggestions, I'd love to try it out!
Hourglass Caution
This mascara is the bomb.com. Super lengthening and gives you the most instant lift after just 1-2 coats. I can wear it all day and know that it will not flake or smudge. Their formula isn't even waterproof yet it holds just like a waterproof mascara would. It also gives you a good medium amount of volume, so your lashes look naturally thick - I've had so many compliments from this mascara alone. Now my holy grail mascara.
Lancome Grandiose
I used to use this one when it first came it. Boy, did I love it. When I buy multiples of things, that's when you know I'm obsessed. Firstly, there is so much product in the container, it will last you months. The brush combs out the lash while giving you a really good lift. 2-3 coats is good if you want decent length and volume.
Kevyn Aucoin Curling
The first of 3 tubular mascaras on my list. As much as I love the KA Volume mascara, curling has got my vote. It's separating and lengthening (all things I want in my mascara). I usually can't get past a second coat with this mascara because of how it dries. What I love most is how it comes off, because of it's latex base it removes easily with water. It's good for au naturel days.
OPERA Mylash
This one has got to be my favourite tubing mascaras. I tend to get a bit more length with this than the Kevyn Aucoin. The brush is super tiny and really gets all my lashes. Comes off just as easily as Kevyn and doesn't clump out of the container after multiple uses (BONUS). It's also super sleek, so I like carrying this in my bag when I need to do a quick makeup in the car.
DHC
I love me some Asian makeup. DHC, like red, has a great tubular formula. No smudging whatsoever and removes so easily. Tubular mascaras are so great for those who shower at the end of the day and prefer taking their makeup off in the shower. DHC's one is very natural. Not a lot of lengthening or volume, but sometimes you want those days. I like this one for my no-makeup-makeup days.
If you can't tell, I love length over volume and despise clumpy mascara. I'm already on the look out for my next holy grail.
