Product Review | Glossier. Milky Jelly Cleanser
The brand on everyone's lips, Glossier. So hard to get obtain here in Australia, yet it's so easy to see all over the internet. Why the hype?
The Philosophy
Glossier is a great brand with a simple philosophy. They want to create beauty with easy-to-use products and simple formulas. They love that no-foundation foundation look with a splash of 'I woke up looking this flawless' skin. It's a signature of their brand and it is what we really needed in the beauty industry. During a time of fillers, insta-makeup and cakey skin, Glossier was a much needed breath of fresh air.
The Product
The milk jelly cleanser is pretty much what the label states. A jelly-like cleanser that melts beautifully into the skin, only to turn into a milky foam when mixed with water. pH balanced and claims to deeply cleanse the skin whilst conditioning the surface. The product spread really easily with just a small amount and was able melted away my everyday makeup.
The Result
As someone who wears long wear makeup and waterproof mascara for work, this was did an adequate job at removing most the makeup. They don't claim to be able to remove waterproof mascara, and for that, I am so glad a brand is being honest with their product capabilities. Instead, they pass on advice on using an oil cleanser first then to use the Milk Jelly cleanser as a double cleanse. That method worked insanely well for me and was able to remove the excess dirt and makeup.
The feeling afterwards was what really converted me. It made me feel extremely clean and left my skin uber soft. It's extremely easy to use, to the point where it has become my lazy day cleanser. After toning, I noticed that it did remove everything than if it were to be used alone.

Considering most of the formula are the first 4-5 ingredients, I do see that they've stuck to some classics in cleansing formulas and put a few little twists.
Poloxamer is a mild cleansing agent which is completely safe for skin that won't it out.
Rose water has been used to replace some of the water they use. That gives it the beautiful smell and conditioning effect. The rest of the ingredients like the Comfrey Root, Aquaxyl, and Pro Vitamin B5 (that they highlight on their website) are not enough to do anything significant on the skin. Considering how little time it's left on the skin, the effect would be to nourish the skin and prevent it from stripping away important oils.
I really liked this product and, as I said earlier, it has become a staple in my quick skincare routine days.
Bonus:
As for the priming moisturiser, this one is predominantly for my kit. I love this for oily/combo skin types because of it's hydrating properties without any stickiness. When I used it, I thought it was quite an average moisturiser. Lightweight and left a subtle satin sheen. It was only when I used it in my makeup applications where I saw a major difference in both application and wear of the makeup. Again its just like how the product is named. It helps to prime your skin while adding moisture. The best part - no silicones. Just nourishing, emollient ingredients that will make your skin feel ultra juicy.
