Product Review | Verso Hydrating Serum with Niacinamide

Kim Pham November 5, 2018

Welcome back to another skin product review. This week was a random empties for me.

I've been working on my overall complexion with the aim of fading out some of the discolouration and achieving an overall even complexion. My main issues are pigmentation from acne and dullness which is a result of my dry skin that tends to lean on the thinner side compared to someone with normal/oily skin. As a result, scars happen a lot quicker.

My current regime has a great deal of vitamin C and I thought to incorporate a product with niacinamide to help with hydration, cellular function and bounce (everyone loves a good bounce to the skin).

So, introducing my new fave and new brand to my blog - Verso.

The Philosophy

Verso exists to add a little ease to everyday life. Established in Stockholm in 2013, Verso’s mission is to simplify your daily skincare routine. Our product range provides the essentials for long-term skin beauty and health. Based on advanced science, each product is easy to use and makes you ready to meet your day in no time.

This was taken from their website and it truly embodies their brand. If you've ever seen Verso in stores, you'll notice their simplicity in both packaging and product range. They are a no-frills brand who focus on quality ingredients for long-term benefits - something I thoroughly appreciate from this brand.

The Product

The product claims to hydrate and plump the skin while providing skin barrier repair. Niacinamide is a beautiful ingredient for anyone with dry skin as it increases suppleness of the skin and builds a great barrier that dry skin tends to lack. The formula has oat lipids and oils that aids the skin's moisture barrier by giving it a protective layer.

The Results

What I really loved about this was the texture my skin took on after using it for 3 weeks. I noticed my skin was radiant and stayed hydrated during my long work days. This was the perfect companion for my vitamin C and held up well under makeup. It was lightweight, milky and left a nice tack to my skin. Perfect in my 5 step routine. I also observed my pigmentation as this was a product I introduced after using my other skincare for a few months - I enjoyed that there were less scars and that my skin would heal quickly when I would pick at the odd blackhead.

The Rundown

Aqua, Niacinamide, Avena Sativa Kernel Oil, Glycerin, Propanediol, Isononyl Isononanoate, Dimethicone, Saccharide Isomerate, Avena Sativa Kernel Flour, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Polyacrylate, Parfum, Tocopheryl Acetate, Xanthan Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate.

Taking advice from a beloved trainer from Korres, Steve, I took to look at the first 4-5 ingredients to understand what 70% of the product is made of. I am glad the first ones are highly emollient (niacinamide) and extremely healing/calming (avena sativa kernel oil - oat oil). Glycerine is a natural humectant as well, really great for hydrating and sealing the skin with moisture. There is a bit of dimethicone - I'm not too fussed as most of my other skin care products have no silicone in them.

Hope you guys enjoyed this post on Verso. I've got their masks in my shopping cart to try for my next long haul flight. Stay tuned :)

I saw myself constantly gravitating toward these pencils and so I felt the need to review. Extremely blendable and versatile, the @makeupforever Pencils have now become a staple in my kit. I can’t wait for some fun colours to be released. Shades mentioned: ✨ Endless Cacao (greyish brown) ✨ Limitless Brown (warm, dark brown) ✨ Wherever Walnut (neutral rose) ✨ Anywhere Caffeine (warm spice brown)

A new favourite added to the collection. It literally combines all the scents I grew up with. It’s insanely fresh whilst enveloping you in a warm spicy cloud. I prefer scents that aren’t overpowering to my nose but still remain interesting (especially if you stand close by). @shiro_japan Spice of Life
