Brush Review | Rae Morris (New Fibre Hairs)

Kim Pham December 31, 2020

Among the many luxurious brush brands in my makeup kit, my go-to brand is Rae Morris.  Born out of the genius mind that is Rae, she set out to create the most beautiful, handmade brushes that are on the market. With a fine eye for detail and a blend of Japanese calligraphy craftsmanship, she has brought these amazing tools into the makeup industry.

Rae's brushes have gone through multiple changes since her first launch. From wooden handles to ingenious magnetised bottoms. Now she's made them completely vegan with a new synthetic fibre that mimics the natural hairs brush makers would commonly use (like goat or blue squirrel).

In my opinion, I still like some of her old brushes with the natural hairs. Mainly the eye brushes due to their ability to pick up shadow so easily. When I first used the new fibre brush hairs, I noticed they required more pressure to pick up shadow/powder. Once you get the hang of it though you'll still get the same great result. All the face brushes are perfect even with the synthetic hairs. The fibres never tug on the skin, instead they allow product to glide smoothly over the complexion. I think these brushes are honestly a great investment and they are up there in my top brush brands.

I've listed a few favourites that would be perfect for any beginner or pro.

#1 Deluxe Kabuki

Petal Shaped and the perfect size for bronzer or blush. The blend on this is insane, you'll never have a patchy cheek ever again.

#6.5 Angled Eye Blender

Originally designed to help create the perfect shadow shape for hooded eyes, this brush is also a wonder for concealer. The angle situates perfectly in the eye socket or softly blends under the eyes. The density is incredible and I can't use any other concealer brush now.

#27 Mini Radiance

A 'mini' or her original radiance brush that started the brush range. This was my first ever purchase and has been my go-to for foundation application. The amount of hairs in one tiny handle is astounding so it's only a given that your foundation adheres so beautifully to your skin after using this. It will always deliver skin that looks like skin. If I could, I would have 10 of these in my kit.

#13 Deluxe Eyeliner

Not many people talk about eyeliner brushes but this one needed a major spotlight. This brush has the perfect shape and hardness so you can have the right control when creating any line work. I always thought it was too big to create a fine line, boy was I wrong. Great addition if you don't have a steady hand.

#9 Detail Point Shader

A great shape for blending shadow under the eye or creating a shape. I like the size especially for hooded eyes as it fits well in eye sockets and doesn't blend too high. '

I hope you guys enjoyed this honest review and let me know what brands you want to hear about next.

I saw myself constantly gravitating toward these pencils and so I felt the need to review. Extremely blendable and versatile, the @makeupforever Pencils have now become a staple in my kit. I can’t wait for some fun colours to be released. Shades mentioned: ✨ Endless Cacao (greyish brown) ✨ Limitless Brown (warm, dark brown) ✨ Wherever Walnut (neutral rose) ✨ Anywhere Caffeine (warm spice brown)
letting things smudge
• it took all my strength to refrain from cleaning up the liner but it somehow turned out better as an imperfect happy accident •

A new favourite added to the collection. It literally combines all the scents I grew up with. It’s insanely fresh whilst enveloping you in a warm spicy cloud. I prefer scents that aren’t overpowering to my nose but still remain interesting (especially if you stand close by). @shiro_japan Spice of Life
