Product Review | Purito Green Level Buffet Serum

Kim Pham April 10, 2021

The Philosophy

Purito's philosophy is one of the many upcoming brands that value the trends for sustainability and animal rights. With vegan friendly ingredients and noble philanthropy causes to 'best friend animal' society and KFEM (Korean Federation for Environmental Movements) I was on board to try this brand. The brand focus to create this beautiful product that only help the skin but also the industry.

The Product

Centella asiatica is no stranger to the skincare world. With skin benefits for reducing redness, increasing cell regeneration, and promoting healthy cell renewal, its no surprise this ingredient is hitting off in Asia (especially with pollution related skin issues becoming a main issue.) This gel serum packs a punch with centella asiatica, hyaluronic acid, madecassic acid, and, asiatic acid etc. It claims to sooth the skin from environmental aggressors promoting healthier skin function.

The Application

The gel consistency easily blends into the skin, making it a great layering serum for my other products. A little goes a long way as it spreads quite far and sits on the skin before absorbing after a couple of seconds. It feels watery and crisp, like your skin had a big gulp of water.

The Results

A truly healing serum that is far from irritating. It soothes the skin instantly as you feel the cool gel melt onto the skin. I used this over the course of  months and during that time, had horrible hay fever symptoms leading me to experience dry, flaky, red noses for most of the trial time. This serum saved my skin and my flaky nose was healed within 3 days. Pimples were rid of their red hue and rendered completely painless. A popped pimple would normally take 7-10 days for me to heal, but with this serum - only 5 days. Not to mention the lack of irritation when spreading this serum over an open would. We all know the sting of some products on open pimples. It wasn't exactly a glowing serum, then again it doesn't mention those effects in their description. I'd say, it was a perfect hydration step for anyone. Also, guys like it too.

The Rundown

Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola) Extract (49%), Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol,1,2-Hexanediol, Glycereth-26, Carbomer, Arginine, Sclerotium Gum, Hydrolyzed Jojoba Esters, Caprylyl Glycol, Panthenol, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Alteromonas Ferment Extract, Pancratium Maritimum (Sea Daffodil) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Disodium EDTA, Adenosine, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Ceramide NP, Sodium Hyaluronate, Asiaticoside, Asiatic Acid, Madecassic Acid, Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-12, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Palmitoyl Dipeptide-10

First ingredient: centella asiatica (oh how that makes my heart sing). With numerous healing properties, centella asiatica works at renewing skin cells in order to speed up skin recovery. There are numerous studies and benefits which you can read on Lab Muffin's page as she goes into much more detail (https://labmuffin.com/skincare-ingredient-spotlight-centella-asiatica/#:~:text=Centella%20asiatica%20extract%20seems%20to,activity%20and%20blood%20vessel%20formation.&text=Madecassoside%20prevented%20UV%2Dinduced%20hyperpigmentation,excised%20human%20skin%20in%20vitro.)

We've got high levels of niacinamide - great for restoring hydration in the skin as well as reducing pores. This powerful vitamin has been a hot topic amongst the skincare world as it is well trusted and thoroughly researched. Essentially it helps to balance the skin barrier enabling it to retain moisture and tighten pores.

Arginine is an amino acid which also helps to retain moisture in the skin along with other ingredients like hydrolysed collagen. The soothing ingredients (anti-oxidants) include Camellia, Niacinamide, and Alteromonas Ferment (a sea microbe that can also draw moisture and decrease inflammation).

Purito's brand philosophy matched with their keen eye for ingredient efficacy has increased my love for skincare and the possibilities we are able to achieve today. To me, they are a responsible brand with integrity that can take criticism and improve their products in light of their mistakes (like their sunscreen).

Advice | Remind Yourself of Your Goals
January 13, 2021

The start of the new year is always a challenge, especially for freelancing. You come off the high from the crazy working hours of the holiday period only to be met with the low season of the new year. Motivation is low as we enter back into the work year. Like many, I experienced this slump during the first few weeks of 2021.

Top 5 | Tinted Moisturisers
November 19, 2020

I've compiled a list of my top 5 tinted moisturisers for both myself and clients. 99% of the time, I'm living in a tinted moisturiser because of the ease and natural sheen it adds to my skin. The recent trend toward more natural looking makeup is a train I can definitely jump on board with. These products have been tried and tested. They provide the right amount of oomph and mojo for me to even write about them, that’s saying something.

Product Review | Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner
August 23, 2020

Korean skincare is no easy feat. The difference between Western vs. Eastern skincare is the cultural buying habits. Western skincare love ingredients and statistical claims, whereas Eastern beauty prefer the layering of multiple products, texture, and packaging. Ingredients have recently become a trend in the Asian market which is why you see more brands using key ingredients to market their products.

Advice | What Would You Do With $500?
April 30, 2019

When I earn money from a job, its so hard not to spend it all on products. Being in the beauty industry, you easily get sucked into new, shiny, products to stock in your kit. There are thousands of influencers and makeup artists who have holy grail items and you get tempted buying all of it in the hopes that your artistry will look the same. This was a downward spiral that I did NOT want to be stuck in. I wasn't saving money and my 'investment' back into my kit wasn't getting me the results I wanted.

I saw myself constantly gravitating toward these pencils and so I felt the need to review. Extremely blendable and versatile, the @makeupforever Pencils have now become a staple in my kit. I can’t wait for some fun colours to be released. Shades mentioned: ✨ Endless Cacao (greyish brown) ✨ Limitless Brown (warm, dark brown) ✨ Wherever Walnut (neutral rose) ✨ Anywhere Caffeine (warm spice brown)

A new favourite added to the collection. It literally combines all the scents I grew up with. It’s insanely fresh whilst enveloping you in a warm spicy cloud. I prefer scents that aren’t overpowering to my nose but still remain interesting (especially if you stand close by). @shiro_japan Spice of Life
