Burberry beauty in my opinion has had a softer launch compared to other luxury designer beauty brands. Maybe it was the timing, maybe it was the marketing, but I found it didn't quite make as much of a splash as the new Gucci or Hermes launches. In saying that, Burberry has firmly established it's place in the beauty market with its sleek, chic packaging and innovative formulas. The iconic Burberry tartan is imprinted on some of their beauty products, either pressed into powders or on their packaging. Other tell tale signs are the stone/beige packaging with the sleek grey Burberry font. I'm really fond of their packaging, mainly due to their lack of plastic wrapped cardboard. Everything has a beautiful paper finish which can be easily recycled and their products are easy to read and stack in your kit.
Light Glow Blush - 07 Earthly Blush
The powder on these blushes are incredibly fine in texture. Its soft to the touch and imparts a medium opacity in colour - great for novices who can be heavy handed. The finely milled powder remains intact meaning you won't be woken up by a cloud of blush every time you open it. A bonus is definitely the brush. Very few brands add brushes into their blush compacts and it is a sin. Firstly, its a sin to not have a brush at all, secondly, its worse when the brush is bad quality. Burberry steers clear of this disappointment, including a soft feathery brush in their packaging - its super sleek too.
One of the best tips I've heard is to always go for the ugliest blush shade due to the fact that it always imparts the best, natural flush to the cheeks. This colour is one of the most natural shades in my kit and is truly flattering. It's rosy without the look of too much colour to your cheek.
Velvet Lip Crush
I originally bought these so I can place them in my professional makeup kit, but I instantly fell in love with them and decided to take a few for myself. The sponge tip applicator makes it easy to disperse this stain like mousse on the lips. The texture is a smoothing lightly whipped mousse that leaves them feeling soft and slightly hydrated. HOT TIP: give your lips a good scrub before hand as it does leave a stain. My favourite is the pink but the tangerine is growing on me too
LASTING POWER: up to 3-4 hours. Won't last past a meal. Definitely won't last if you're a lipstick eater or lick your lips.
Glow Foundation Stick
I bought this on a whim but find that I liked it for a daily light makeup look. Its more like a tinted moisturiser in a stick. It applies easily with a brush as the buffing motion helps the product spread, but you can use your fingers too. The finish is a satin dew and can be moulded to fit whatever finish you desire depending on how you prep your skin. I wouldn't say it's very glowy product, it makes the skin look healthy.
LASTING POWER: 5 hours without primer or powder on DRY SKIN
Eyeshadow Stick - Almond
Such a great colour. I wish they did more matte shades for these eye crayons as this formula is one of the best. It's long wearing, stays creamy and gives a beautiful satin matte finish (not too powdery looking). This is the perfect cool brown 90's shade, making it a perfect base for smoky eyes or a wash of colour for everyday.
LASTING POWER: 8+ hours
The Burberry range is incredibly beautiful and you can tell the designers had the consumers in mind, especially with their shade range. I'm keen to try the lip contour colours and I see they made it for some deeper skin tones too. Overall, a well thought out range and stunning to have in your persona makeup kit.
