Product Review | Kat Burki Vitamin C Intensive Face Cream

Kim February 28, 2019

The Philosophy

Kat Burki is a relatively new brand to Australia. Her philosophy came at a time when the Australian beauty industry needed some genuine 'clean' beauty brands (and oh how we welcomed her with open arms).

'Clean beauty' can mean so many things to different people. I believe in products that are effective and have very little negative impact on the environment and on our skin. Clean to me doesn't mean 100% natural because I believe in research of new ingredients and the efficacy compared to natural counterparts.

Kat Burki is a nutritional scientist who firmly believes in nutritional ingredients that feed the skin and body. She believes that filler ingredients are unnecessary and has made it her mission to create formulas without them. She instead utilises ingredients that are rich in nutrients that benefit the skin and ensures that each ingredient (if natural) is cold pressed to guarantee efficacy.

The Product

The Vitamin C Intensive Cream has got to be one of my favourite moisturisers to date. Formulated with a blend of reishi mushrooms, arnica, and Kat's own form of vitamin C (along with other goodies). It's said to eliminate dullness and provide a beautiful radiance to the skin whilst evening the tone and texture.

The Application

The application is a whole other level. The cream is smooth, creamy and lightweight. Feels a lot lighter than other creams I've tried, kind of like whipped cream. It will leave your skin feeling really smooth and soft. There is a slight residue, but due to the lack of silicone, the oils that seal the moisture end up sinking into the skin anyway. Despite my many layers of skincare underneath, the moisture absorbs quickly. Almost too quickly sometimes, to the point where I feel I need to add more - DON'T do this.

The scent is absolutely beautiful and pure - a nice, fresh, cucumber scent.

The Result

As for performance, this wears well underneath makeup and would suit people who have oily-dry skin. For oily skin, I would suggest to use a little of this cream as you won't get too oily with little product. If you ever get sensitive with vitamin C's, definitely give this one a go!

The Rundown

KB5™ Complex (Arnica Montana (Arnica), Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola), Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender), Calendula Officinalis (Calendula), Matricaria Recutita (Chamomile)), Isopropyl Palmitate (Palm Oil), Dimethyl Sulfone (MSM), Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Vitamin C), Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Safflower Oil, Natural Fragrance, Glyceryl Stearate, Colloidal Silver, Ganoderma Lucidum Extract (Reishi), Maris Sal (OMC92 – Ocean Mineral Complex), Butyrospermum Parkii Butter (Shea Butter), Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil (Jojoba Oil), Panthenol (Vitamin B-5), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe), Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (Green Tea), Equisetum Arvense Extract (Horsetail Plant), Pelargonium Graveolens Extract (Geranium), Taraxacum Officinale Extract (Dandelion), Xanthan Gum, Citric Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin (Preservative, less than 1%), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative, less than 1%), Citronellol, Geraniol, Limonene

If you ever get sensitive with vitamin C's, definitely give this one a go! The first ingredient is Kat's blend which includes arnica - a great anti-inflammatory commonly used to heal bruises. The rest of the ingredients like lavender and calendula pair beautifully to calm the skin and provide a suppleness to any texture. The 15% vitamin C is different to the rest as it remains stable enough to be in jar. 15% is enough for you to see the benefits of brightness and evening of skin tone, but not enough to contribute to anti-aging as much as others.

I saw myself constantly gravitating toward these pencils and so I felt the need to review. Extremely blendable and versatile, the @makeupforever Pencils have now become a staple in my kit. I can’t wait for some fun colours to be released. Shades mentioned: ✨ Endless Cacao (greyish brown) ✨ Limitless Brown (warm, dark brown) ✨ Wherever Walnut (neutral rose) ✨ Anywhere Caffeine (warm spice brown)

A new favourite added to the collection. It literally combines all the scents I grew up with. It’s insanely fresh whilst enveloping you in a warm spicy cloud. I prefer scents that aren’t overpowering to my nose but still remain interesting (especially if you stand close by). @shiro_japan Spice of Life
